Another hidden Internet Jewel

I have fallen in love with del.icio.us.com. This site is amazing. I hate when cache is cleared and I can't remeber what site i'm looking for. I love how its electronic so where ever there is a computer I can utilize the site. The hardest thing for me is remembering where all these darn periods will go. For those of you don't know del.icio.us.com is a tagging social networking site where you can store links to certain websites you may have stumbled on. This site can be useful in every setting.

Podcasting. ummmm

I never really used podcast becaue I figured when would I use them. I also thought that they only would work on an MP3 Player and I didn't want to usee that storage space. Well after exploring a site called podcast.com I found many more uses for this feature. I found a couple sports medicine and exercise podcast. I put a rss feed to my google reader so I can stay in the know with all the happenings.
Youtube has a lot to offer. I can see this being used in a class setting just like how it is for Kin 710. I decided to post this video because it is of my God Sister. Can you guess which one she is.

In reading a couple of my classmates blogs it appears that a few people had problems with posting their google doc to their blog so I created a step by step check list for this process.

1. After completing your google doc make sure you save it.

2. On the top right of you page there is a tab labeled share

3. Click on share

4. Click publish as web page

5. Click post to blog

6. Use the scroll down menu to select your proper blog site

7. Sign in

8. Post to blog (you don't have to do a test)

9. Check your blog to see if your post is there.

Hope this helps. By the way I created this doc using google docs.

I have been using the Google Docs spread sheets for work for the past couple of months. Just recently on one of my time sheets I forgot to select am over pm and thus I worked 12 more hours then what I actually did. My boss saw this error and was able to fix it and send my time sheet back to me via google docs.

I like Google Docs and I'm like many who wish I could have thought twice about buying the expensive Microsoft office package when I only really use three of the features (word, excel and PowerPoint). It will be interesting to see in the next few years how google docs will be used in the work place and everyday life.

Web 2.0 Sites and Features

I found a couple of sites that had some interesting content. My best friends and I are on this accountability journey, where we are each holding each other accountable for doing little task every week to help push us to our short and long time goals. The web site 43things.com allows you to list your goals, record your progress and cheer or encourage other people on their progress. I can use this tool in my everyday life, work and personal.

Another site that I found was yourminis.com which is a site where you can find widgets to put on your blog, facebook, myspace, personal web page or any other social networking site. I have really grown fond of widgets because it makes your site a lot more interesting to look at.

The last site that I found useful was nomao.com which gives information to other users of good places to eat, shop, visit, party and a host of other things that may interest someone.

Google Reader/Bloglines

Last night I realized that Google Reader and Bloglines is the same thing. Of course I realized this after I created a bloglines account. I figured it would be easier to add some of my classmates blogs and different new feeds into google reader instead of bloglines since I already have a google account that I use for my e-mail and blog. There is also a link on the blogger dashboard to connect to google reader. I posted an earlier blog that I usually have problems finding things to look at on the Internet but now I'm finding things that interest me and it's great because I can put everything in one place. It's like one stop shopping.

I really enjoy the different technologies that I have learned thus far. I really like my google reader. I found some health and fitness articles that I could add as feeds and get updates on new information. I don't know how I'm going to use my twitter account in regards to my career at this moment. I don't plan to add to twitter to my phone and before taking KIN 710 I wasn't on the computer that much. We shall see as time goes on but at this moment I love how Internet savvy I'm becoming.
